Medan, NU Online Medan as the capital of North Sumatra, January this year, is not the same as usual. Along main roads across the city there have been flags and attributes littered with green colors. The city has now extremely become such a green region. There are no great events such as congress, conference, national meeting of a party, and so on. The "green" scene is not also aimed at welcoming a top official of the country. Rather it is aimed at welcoming an anniversary of the birth of the Indonesia's biggest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU)

Jakarta, NU Online General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Hasyim Muzadi expressed his gisagreement with the teachings of Ahmadiyah. But he more disagreed with any action using violence against the sect being banned by Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) "I disagree with Ahmadiyah and I disagrre if the Ahmadiyah is attacked," Hasyim told reporters after the meeting between PBNU and Muhammadiyah at the PBNU headquarters, Jalan Kramat Raya 164 Jakarta on Thursday (10/1).

Sidoarjo mudflow handling to prevent new incidents, president says

Jakarta, NU Online President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked related parties to continue handling the mudflow in Sidoarjo, East Java, to prevent new incidents from happening like broken dikes, new mudflows, not to mention human victims. Group asks AGO to ban Ahmadiyah

Jakarta, NU Online More than 50 Islamic organizations grouped under the Islamic Community Forum visited the Attorney's General Office (AGO) on Thursday to urge the government to ban the Ahmadiyah sect. In a letter to Attorney General Hendarman Supandji, the group expressed the need for the government to declare Ahmadiyah heretical, prohibit all its activities and demand the followers be re-educated by the Indonesian Ulemas Council.
