West Sumatra Maarif NU to construct Islamic school

Padang, NU Online Chairman of the educational institution of Maarif NU of West Sumatra Drs Idial Alimuddin, MHI said that his institution would construct an Islamic senior high school building located at Pesantren Asadiyah Ma'arif Limapuluh Kota regency West Sumatra as part of its efforts to develop people education. “Today (Saturday, 31/3) there would be laying of a cornerstone marking the construction of a two-floor Islamic senior high school building,” chairman of Maarif NU of West Sumatra Drs Idial Alimuddin said Saturday.

Hasyim: RI should be responsible if Iran-US war breaks out

Jakarta, NU Online Hasyim Muzadi, chairman of Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), said since the Indonesian government has supported the UN Security Council resolution imposing additional sactions on Iran, it must also bear reponsibility if war breaks out betwwen Iran and the United States. "If eventually war breaks out between Iran and the US , the Indonesian government must also be responsible," Muzadi said after attending the declaration of "Baitul Muslimin Indonesia" , the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI-P)’s Islamic organization, at the party’s headquarters here on Thursday.

PPP cadres protest government's support for Iran resolution

Surabaya, NU Online Hundreds of United Development Party (PPP) cadres staged a rally outside the East Java governor’s office here on Friday protesting against the government’s decision to support the UN  Security Council resolution imposing tougher sanctions on Iran over its controversial nuclear program. As reported by Antara news agency, the protesters earlier marched from Jalan Kombes M Duryat to the governor’s office, carrying a number of posters which among others read "Sever  Indonesian-US  ties", and "Condemn SBY for his support for UN Security Council Resolution 1747".

Jakarta, NU Online In an unprecedented move, a Cabinet minister has thrown his weight behind a campaign by the House of Representatives to question President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono over the government's decision to support a UN resolution imposing sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program. "I could not understand why the government accepted the UN resolution. I personally regret that the dialog on the Iran nuclear issue stopped at the UN Security Council. I fully agree with the House's action plan as it will give the President a chance to explain to the public why such a decision was made," Minister for Cooperatives and Small- and Medium-scale Enterprises Suryadharma Ali said by telephone here Thursday.

RI to host international Islamic conference of Sunni, Shi'ite ulema

Kuala Lumpur, NU Online Iran is planning to stop using the U.S. dollar to price oil, with less than half of its oil income now paid in the U.S. currency, Iran's central bank governor said. "That's the plan for the future, we are working on that," Governor Ebrahim Sheibany said in an interview with Zawya Dow Jones News Service late Tuesday when asked if Iran was planning to stop pricing oil in dollars. He was speaking on the sidelines of an Islamic finance forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia'slargest city.

Jakarta, NU Online Former president Abdurrahman Wahid alias Gus Dur said he supported the intention of 120 House of Representatives (DPR) members to exercise their interpellation right over the government’s support to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution to tighten sanctions on Iran over its uranium enrichment program.
