Malang's NU Branch Board inaugurated
Malang, NU OnlineThe Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board (PCNU) of Malang for the period 2011-2016 was sworn in An-Nur Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) Bululawang subdistrict, Malang, on Saturday (25/2).The inauguration was carried out by chairman of the East Java's NU Regional Board (PWNU) KH Hasan Mutawakil Alallah following a decree issued by the Central Board of Nadlatul Ulama (PBNU) and read by deputy secretary of PWNU H Sujono.For the period 2011-2016, the Malang's chapter of NU will be led by chairman of the advisory council (syuriyah) KH Muhammad Mansur and chairman of the legislative council (tanfidziyah) H Bibit Suprapto. Both were elected in a conference held on 15 September 2011.In his speech, Bibit Suprapto said that he would welcome other parties to engage in any cooperation in Malang which is the second largest area in eastern Java and has tremendous potential."For anyone as long as he is not opposed to the Islamic creed, we are ready to cooperate in building society in Malang District," he said.The inauguration was attended by Malang Regent Rendra Krishna and East Java Deputy Governor Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), local figures and Nahdliyin (NU followers) throughout Malang.Meanwhile, Gus Ipul called on the newly-inaugurated board members to pay more attention to Islamic boarding schools for being the basis of Islamic students (santri) and the root of the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization."I hope NU is committed to paying attention to pesantren, so its quality is better," Gus Ipul representing the General Chairman of PBNU Said Agil Siroj said.
