Abdul Kadir Reappointed as chairman of Makassar NU

Makassar, NU Online Dr. H. Abdul Kadir Ahmad MS was reappointed as chairman of the Executif Board (Tanfidziyah) of the Makassar NU Branch Board (PCNU) at its conference in Makassar over the weekend. Kadir was elected by acclamation for other candidates retiring from chairman post. While Dr. KH Bahadruddin who is also the leader of IMMIM Islamic boarding school (pesantren) was appointed as chairman of the Advisory Board (Syuriyah) of the PCNU. NU Online's Badruddin Kaddas reported.

PKB rift has little impact on NU factions

Jakarta, NU Online A threat made by former president Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid to abstain from voting in next year's general election will not inspire other factions to follow suit, analysts say. Political observers said the battle between Gus Dur and rival Muhaiman for chairmanship of the National Awakening Party (PKB), which ended in a court ruling in favor of Muhaiman, will not inspire a similar clash between internal factions of Nahdlatul Ulam (NU), the country's largest Islamic organization.

NU students from across Java agree to set up a forum

Yogyakarta, NU Online NU students from across Java gathering at a meeting in Yokyakarta over the weekend agreed to set up a new forum. The forum designed to facilitate dialogue and the exchange of information between students within NU community was called as NU Students' Communication Forum across Java (FKMNUJ). The meeting was initiated by NU student family from a number of universities like Gajah Mada University (UGM), State University of Yogyakarta, (UNY) and Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). The great event involving NU activists and students from universities throughout Java was held in Alma Ata Institute of Health Sciences (STIKES) of Yogyakarta.

President can issue decree if amended constitution puts state in jeopardy

Jakarta, NU Online The President has the right to issue a decree to save the state, if the implementation of the revised 1945 Constitution may place the state in jeopardy. Jakarta, NU Online The Supreme Court has dealt Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid and his supporters a heavy blow that will expel him from the party he helped found in 1998. Jakarta, NU Online General chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Hasyim Muzadi said that the United Nations tended to pay more its attention to Israel rather than Palestine. The international organization could no longer do many things dealing with the Israel-Palestine crisis. The UN, Hasyim said, could only stand firmly and fairly for each resolution issued related to Israel. He said that If the resolution was vulnerable for Israel, the UN would ignore the resolution. Gus Dur ready to be questioned by KPK over Faishal`s allegation

Jakarta, NU Online KH Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur, chairman of the rule-making body of the Nation`s Awakening Party (PKB), said he was ready to be questioned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) over legislator Yusuf Emir Faishal`s allegation he had once received Rp300 million from Faishal to pay medical bills.
