Ahmadinejad and Badawi will attend NU's international conference

Jakarta, NU Online Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will reportedly attend the third International Conference of Islamic Scholars (ICIS) that will be held at the Jakarta's Borobudur Hotel on 29 July-1 August ahead. At the forum initiated by the Indonesia's biggest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), both Ahmadinejad and Badawi would be main speakers on the topic Upholding Islam as Rahmatan lil Alamin (Blessing for the universe): Peace and Conflict Prevention in the Muslim World.

NU chairman: Big number of Nahdliyin has 'two sides of the same coin'

Jakarta, NU Online General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH hasyim Muzadi said the big number of Nahdliyin could be considered as strength and weakness as well, potential and burden that should be tackled. "People outside the NU have most of the time misunderstood. They thought that NU with its big followers would easily address all its problems," Hasyim said, adding that what should first of all be addressed was the big number of NU followers "whose strength and weakness, potential and burden."

KH Masruri Mughni-Moh Adnan to chair C. Java's NU

Brebes, NU Online KH Masruri and Mohammad Adnan were re-elected to chair the Central Java's NU Regional Board. At the plenary session led by the general chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi, Mughni was appointed to be chairman of the PWNU Legislative Council (Syuriyah) while Adnan as chairman of the PWNU Executive Council for the period 2008-2013. Mughni was elected by acclamation while Adnan should struggle for the "first" man in the board after defeating his competitor Ali Mufis who is now the governor of Central Java.
