PKB disagree with govt's plan to raise fuel oil prices

Jakarta, NU Online The National Awakening Party (PKB) said that it disagreed with the government's plan to raise fuel oil prices following the rocketing price of world's oil. "The PKB rejects the rise of fuel oil prices. Do not burden the people more and more," General Secretary of the PKB, Yenny Wahid said while addressing the opening of the Party's extraordinary congress in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (30/1).

U.S. researchers to seek mudflow, volcano link

Surabaya, NU Online Arizona State University (ASU) will establish a science research institute in Indonesia, with a forthcoming study on the mudflow disaster in Sidoarjo, East Java, as its initial project. A team of scientists, led by Dr. Amanda Clark from the ASU School of Earth and Space Exploration, will arrive Tuesday for the first project, expected to last one month, Susi Herawati, spokeswoman for the U.S. university, said Monday.

Sukabumi, NU Online A group calling itself the Jamaah Al Mubalighin Communication Forum burned down a mosque belonging to the "deviant" Ahmadiyah sect in Parakan Salak village in Sukabumi regency, West Java, early Monday (28/4). Sukabumi Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Gunthor Ghafar told The Jakarta Post the incident began when the forum members met Sunday for a Koran reading session at At-Taqwa Mosque, about 700 meters from Ahmadiyah's Al Furqon Mosque.

Hasyim: I have no condition to attend PKB's extraordinary congresses

Jakarta, NU Online General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said that there was no condition for him to attend any extraordinary congresses held by the two rival National Awakening Party camps. He said that he had no structural relation with the party.
