Ford Foundation to evolve universal humanism in pesantren through ODEL

Jakarta, NU Online The Ford Foundation, a donor agency, has launched a information technology based-distance learning program in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to evolve ideas of universal humanism. In this regard, some 8 pesantrens would expectedly be targeted to be such pilot projects for three-year period of time.   "The project taking up issues on "Open, Distance and E-Learning (ODEL) to Transformation of Islamic Community through Pesantren" was held by a Jakarta-based non-governmental organization, International Center for Islam and Pluralism (ICIP) in Nikko Hotel, Jakarta on Monday (7/4).

Anti-Quran Film Insult All Religions, Says World Churches Council

Medan, NU Online In the view of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Indonesian society is still permissive in its attitude toward corruption cases happening in the national capital and the regions, a KPK official said. Indonesian cleric calls for boycott over Dutch anti-Islam film

Jakarta, NU Online Indonesia's top Muslim organization called Wednesday (2/3) for a boycott of Dutch products to protest a film by a Dutch lawmaker that links Islam to violence. President: Film "Fitna" can destroy harmony in inter-human relations

Bogor, NU Online President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he had forbidden the entry of the anti-Islamic film `Fitna` into Indonesia because the film would destroy the harmonious relations among humans in the world. "I have banned the entry and distribution of the film `Fitna` in Indonesia. I have also asked the Dutch prime minister to withdraw the film from all distribution channels. The distribution of the film could harm the existing harmony in inter-human relations in the world," Yudhoyono told thousands of people attending a service to mark the Prophet Muhammad`s Birthday at An Nur Mosque, Bogor, Tuesday (1/4) evening.
