Arab Ministers Assess Gaza Attacks, Refer Issue to Summit

Cairo, NU Online Arab foreign ministers Wednesday condemned the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, and said an assessment of the situation would be made at the Arab summit in Syria on March 29. A final communicate issued by Wednesday’s Arab League meeting in Cairo said the 18 ministers prepared a full evaluation of the situation in Gaza, describing continuous Israeli attacks on the Palestinians as "war crimes against all humanity".

RI: UN Security Council should Reconsider Sanction on Iran

New York, NU Online Indonesia said that the UN Security Council (UNSC) has not properly made notes of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report on a  significant progress between the  cooperation between IAEA and Iran. Indonesian Permanent Representative to the  UN Marty Natalegawa said in a  UN General Assembly session that  Indonesia had urged the UNSC to assure the mutualism symbiosis between the report and the third resolution.

RI Abstains in UNSC Vote on Iran Resolution

New York, NU Online Fourteen United Nations Security Council (UNSC) members voted in favor of a resolution providing for  additional sanctions against Iran but Indonesia abstained. The Security Council’s  additional sanctions on Iran over its nuclear development program included  inspection of ships  suspected of carrying prohibited goods,  tighter monitoring of financial institutions and  extension of travel bans and asset freezes.

PBNU: KPK yet to be fair in dealing with BLBI case

Jakarta, NU Online General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had yet to be fair in dealing with the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) case. Hasyim said till now the commission has not yet summoned and investigated all former Bank Indonesia officials and members of the House of Representatives allegedly linked to the huge bank loan scandal.

Kuala Lumpur, NU Online The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama Women Organization (Muslimat) would reportedly set up a representative board in Malaysia. The purposeful idea would be discussed by both Muslimat and Malaysia's NU Special Branch Board at a meeting in Segambut on Wednesday (27/2). Top Bolivian official plans Washington visit to complain of U.S. interference

La Paz, NU Online A top Bolivian official announced plans Monday to travel to Washington to present "proof'' that U.S. aid programs were designed to undermine the leftist government of President Evo Morales.
