FPP supports NU edict on gossip news

Jakarta, NU OnlineThe United Development Party faction (FPP) supported Monday (7/8) the edict (fatwa) issued by the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) that prohibits Muslims from broadcasting, publishing and watching infotainment news. Chairman of the FPP Endin AJ Soefihara said that the prospective verdict should be immediately socialized in society. “People need to respond to it positively because its aim is to stimulate critical culture,” said Endin in Jakarta.

Hasyim: Our legislation system still makes us complicated

Jakarta, NU OnlineGeneral chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said Friday (4/8) that the existing legal system in Indonesia has made nation’s condition complicated as a result of a lot of irresponsible lawmaking bodies. “Many unclear institutions and commissions like this and that. If that happens, our (legal) system tends to lock. So if there were such problems, there was no one whose responsibility, that’s unclear. So there is no doubt that, the developing country of ours is not appropriate to the system,” Hasyim told NU Online in Jakarta, Friday.

Pesantren's training to reduce disaster risks

Jakarta, NU OnlineA number of Islamic boarding “pesantren” schools in vulnerably regions of disaster will be trained to handle it caused by natural phenomena such as tectonic earthquake, volcanoes, typhoon and so on. To realize the program, the central board of Nahdlatul Ulama in cooperation with Australian Government Overseas Aid Program (AusAid) signed Thursday (3/8) a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in handling disaster based on community activity at the PBNU Building, Jln Kramat Raya 164 Jakarta.

Hasyim: Constitution amendment should be reviewed

It could be such a means to evaluate its impacts both negatively and positively. He asked whether the amendment would improve the nation’s condition or not. Hasyim argued that it was a result of a National Ulema Meeting and Major Conference of NU in Surabaya last month. For him, the amended constitution has likely raised many problems. Nationalist circles including NU have reminded us to back to the purely 1945 Constitution.

There has been now 10 santris (those who studying in Islamic Boarding ”pesantren” School) living in the pesantren Mlangi, a religious institution supervised by KH RM Rifqi Aziz Maksum. All of the 10-year-old children have been enjoying studying in the pesantren and Ma’arif Junior High School, located in Nogotirto, Gamping, Sleman.

Beirut, NU OnlineHizbollah fired more rockets into Israel on Wednesday than on any previous day of the 22-day-old war, killing one Israeli and wounding 123 after helicopter-borne commandos launched Israel's deepest raid into Lebanon. Air strikes in support of the helicopter raid in the Hizbollah stronghold of Baalbek in northeastern Lebanon killed 19 people, including four children.
