IPNU cadre installed as deputy mayor

Pontianak, NU Online Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU) of West Kalimantan, Paryadi was installed as deputy mayor of Pontianak for the period 2008-2013 along with mayor-elect Sutarmidji at the Pontianak Convention Center (PCC) Monday (22/12). Sutarmidji and Paryadi nominated by the Development United Party (PPP) and the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) were installed following their win in the Regional Elections (Pilkada) on 25 October 2008. They dominated in all subdistricts, namely 34,37 percent of total votes.

Jember, NU Online Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board of Jember, East Java, KH Muhyiddin Abdussomad called on Nahdliyin (NU followers) to take into account of NU's educational institutions. He said that the educational institutions had remained backward and the backwardness could be seen from the fact that many NU followers have yet to have high level of educational attainment and a large number of NU's schools have remained sleepy from enrolling students.

Malang, NU Online The local chapter of Nahdlatul Ulama's (NU) Ansor youth wing have sent out a warning urging recreational centers, massage parlors and the red-light district to close their businesses for Ramadhan. "Ramadhan is a holy month. It is better for them to close shop. If they refuse, they should expect us and our affiliate, the Banser, to pay them a visit," Malang regency Ansor chairman Nur Chomari, said as quoted by "Tempo Interaktif".

Arvil Syahadat, information officer at the Japanese Consulate General in Surabaya told Antara here on Tuesday (8/4) that the poly-clinic was funded under a Japanese government`s grant worth US$82,341, the equivalent of Rp 745 million.
