NU figures have never thought to establish Islamic state: NU figure

Canberra, NU Online Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siroj (Kang Said) said that the NU founding fathers had never thought to establish Islamic state in the country. The NU commitment in dealing with the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) could be traced from its Banjarmasin congress in 1935, said Kang Said as addressing a religious gathering to commemorate the Nuzulul Qur'an (the descent of the Holy Qur'an), held by the NU Special Branch Board of Australia-New Zeland in Canberra over the weekend.

NU won't announce Syawal 1st before government decision

Lesbumi: Religious sinetron lose their spiritual values

Jakarta, NU Online The serial electronic cinemas (sinetron) claimed as religious ones and aired on national TV stations could be considered to have lost their spiritual values. The aired programs should expectedly be aimed at deepening religious sense of viewers instead of reducing Islamic teachings. Govt bans dairy milk from China on probe

Jakarta, NU Online The government has banned the distribution of imported dairy milk from China and advised the public to temporarily stop consuming Chinese dairy products to avoid possible contaminations of melamine. "The Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM) is currently checking all dairy products from China. The result will be available over the next three days," Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said in a statement read by the ministry's spokesperson Lily S. Sulistyowati, as quoted by Antara on Tuesday.
