RI, Russia to cooperate in public sector monitoring

Jakarta, NU Online Indonesia and Russia will sign an agreement to cooperate in public sector monitoring to develop transparency and accountability in state financial management in the respective countries, an Indonesian state audit official said. The agreement will be signed by the Supreme Audit Board (BPK) and the Account Chamber of the Russian  Federation at the State Palace here on September 6, the BPK’s information and foreign relations bureau said in a report issued  here Wednesday.

Russia to extend a billion-dollar credit to Indonesia for arms spend

Moscow, NU Online Russia will grant Indonesia a billion-dollar credit line to enable it to buy Russian military hardware, a Russian presidential spokesman said Monday. The credit agreement was due to be signed when Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Jakarta on Thursday, Sergei Prikhodko told Russian news agencies.

Hasyim shocked to learn his statement on BLBI case used as advertisement

Walhi supports Jepara NU's verdict over Muria nuclear power plant

Jakarta, NU Online The Indonesian forum for environment (Walhi) has fully supported a verdict issued by the Jepara's Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board (PCNU) over the plan to construct a nuclear power plant on Muria Peninsula in Central Java. Muria nuclear plant 'haram'

Jepara, NU Online Dozens of ulema from Nahdlatul Ulama gathered here Saturday and Sunday came out with a strong verdict against the country's first nuclear plant, which is to be built nearby at Mt. Muria. Malaysian PM offers Indonesia an apology

Jakarta, NU Online The Malaysian government, in this case Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Baidawi, has offered an official apology to Indonesia for the incident in which several Malaysian policemen had beaten up Indonesian karate referee Donald Luther Colopita. "Last night (Aug 29) at about 8 p.m Central Indonesia Time (WITA) President Yudhoyono received a telephone call from the Malaysian premier expressing profound regrets and offering an apology for the incident," presidential spokesman Dino Pati Djalal said at the Tampak Siring Palace in Bali Thursday night.
