House postpones Lapindo probe

Jakarta, NU Online The House of Representatives failed to agree Tuesday whether or not to summon President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to a plenary session for an inquiry into the Lapindo mudflow disaster. They instead handed over the responsibility for the decision to a special team for monitoring the spending of 2008 state budget funds to pay compensation to Lapindo mudflow victims and for reconstruction of Sidoarjo's infrastructure.

Gus Dur: SBY has no good willingness to overcome Lapindo mudflow case

Jakarta, NU Online Former General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid said here Wednesday that the government had no such good willingness to immediately overcome the Lapindo mudflow case. Yudhoyono, Abe sign cooperation agreement on four energy projects

Jakarta, NU Online Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe signed a cooperation agreement on four energy and power projects at the State Palace here on Monday. The projects covered by the agreement were the South Sumatra-West Java gas transmission pipeline network, Cilegon power plant, Tarahan coal-fired power plant and Donggi Senoro liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Central Sulawesi.

House to supervise state budget spendings on Lapindo mudflow disasters

Jakarta, NU Online The House of Representatives (DPR) will form a special team to supervise the spending of Rp1.2 trillion in 2008 state budget funds on the mitigation of the fate of Lapindo hot mudflow victims and the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by the disaster in Sidoarjo, East Java, a spokeman said. "The supervisory team will consist of 50 House members," House Deputy Speaker Muhaimin Iskandar said at the legislative building here on Monday.

Dadi Susanto visited China recently to have talks on the finalization of a draft agreement on technical defense cooperation between Indonesia and China. "The director general`s visit to China was a follow-up to the strategic partnership agreement on defense and security signed by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his Chinese counterpart President Hu Jintao in April 2005," Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy Yayat Sudrajat said here on Sunday.
