Brebes Banser to file protest to SBY to disband FPI

Brebes, NU Online The Ansor Paramilitary Wing of Brebes, Central Java has filed a formal protest to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to immediately disband the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI). Chairman of Coordination Unit of Brebes Banser, K. Agus Mudrik, said the protest was filed following violent actions committed by the FPI's activists against the National Alliance for Freedom of Religion and Faith (AKKBB) rally at the National Monument (Monas) square on Sunday (1/6).

57 FPI members arrested over Indonesia rally attack

Jakarta, NU Online Police arrested some 57 members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) on early Wednesday in connection with the Monas (National Monument) violence last Sunday. Antara news agency reported. FPI Chairman Habib Rizieq Shihab on the occasion also went to Jakarta Police Headquarters, saying he went to the Jakarta Police Headquarters at his own will to accompany his members and to make sure that the police would follow the proper procedures in treating the arrested FPI members.

NU refuses to be dragged into furore over Monas incident

Jakarta, NU Online The General Chairman of the country`s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Hasyim Muzadi, said NU rejected efforts by certain organizations to involve it in the case of the Islamic Denfenders` Front (FPI) attack on a National Alliance for Freedom of Religion and Faith (AKKBB) rally at the National Monument (Monas) square on Sunday. "The PBNU regrets the use of NU`s name and attempts to involve it in the furore over the Monas incident," Muzadi said here on Tuesday (3/6).

Jakarta, NU Online General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Hasyim Muzadi said that both the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) and the National Alliance for Freedom of Religion and Faith (AKKBB) had misunderstood in dealing with Ahmadiyah.
