NU's religious teachings able to maintain national stability

Brebes, NU Online The religious teachings of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) basing mainly on Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah are considered of being able to maintain the national stability. "Our country is secure for NU followers would make no diverse things unnecessarily," interim chairman of the Central Java's NU Regional Board, Abu Hapsin made the statement on the sidelines of the 62nd Anniversary of Brebes Muslimat NU, Central Java on Thursday (29/5). Australian town rejects Islamic school

Camden, NU Online A proposal to build a school for 1200 Muslim students in an Australian town has been turned down by authorities, a move denounced as “victory for racism” by a Muslim group. Even though the project has been opposed by locals, councilors for Camden, a small town on the outskirts of Sydney, claimed that their refusal to the school project was solely based on planning issues.

External interference blamed for PKB split

Jakarta, NU Online External forces pursuing their own political interests ahead of the 2009 elections are to blame for the split within the National Awakening Party (PKB), according to the faction led by former president Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid. "The rift occurred because some political powers are eager to co-opt PKB members through their agents inside the party," PKB secretary-general Yenny Zannuba Wahid said in a discussion with The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Hasyim: There have been many expecting NU not to be a big power

Jakarta, NU Online General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said that there had so far been many expecting NU not to be in unity and a big power. Minister: Non-muslims should not meddle in Ahmadiyah issue

Students block street outside campus to protest fuel price hikes
