Again, PBNU to send its 26 cadres to UK

Jakarta, NU OnlineThe Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) will again send its 26 cadres to the United Kingdom at the mid of February next year to follow an education management training for Islamic boarding schools for a month. Chairman of the PBNU for foreign affairs HM Rozy Munir said at the PBNU office, Jalan Kramat Raya, Jakarta, Saturday (30/9) that the dispatch of the 26 participants following the training was carried out because of cooperation between PBNU and the UK.

40.000 lebaran packages for disaster victims

Jakarta, NU OnlineNahdlatul Ulama Committee of Zakat, Infaq and Shadaqah (LAZIZ-NU) has now prepared 40.000 lebaran packages for disaster victims in the country of ours. The packages would be purposefully distributed at the end of the holy month of Ramadhan following the coming of this year’s Idul Fitri Holiday. “We are now collecting zakat from the rich men to be distributed in the form of lebaran package to disaster’s victims,” said the Chairman of the LAZIZ-NU, Prof Dr Fathur Rahman Rouf to NU Online here on Thursday (28/9).

Kiai Ma'ruf: NU has developed dynamic line of thought

Jakarta, NU OnlineChairman of Nahdlatul Ulama law making body KH Ma’ruf Amin said here on Wednesday (27/8) that as the country’s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has since its establishment developed such dynamic line of thought by basing itself on manhaj (frame of thinking) as evolved by four schools in fiqih (Islamic jurisprudence). Speaking at a Training of Cadres of Preachers II held by Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic Preaching Institution (LDNU) and Muslimat, kiai Ma’ruf suggested that in 1990s NU had ever been in conservatism. NU ulemas just received what called as manhaj textually. As a result, it could no longer address religious problems that had never come into existence during the four ulemas’ period of time.

Kiai Ma’ruf: Islam should be understood proportionally

Hasyim Muzadi: We are obliged to accept the (Pope Benedict XVI's) apology.

Jakarta, NU OnlineNadhlatul Ulama chairman Hasyim Muzadi called on Indonesian Muslims on Monday to accept Pope Benedict XVI's apology for offending Muslims, saying it was "an obligation" according to Islamic teachings. "As long as it (the Pope's remarks) was made out of negligence, we are obliged to accept the apology," Hasyim said on the sidelines of a religious leaders conference at the NU office, Jalan Kramat Raya 164, Jakarta.
